It's no stretch to write that "The Ashley & Alexis Show" is not geared to my generation. That's to say anyone over the age of 18 may be left scratching their head, wondering what they just watched. Add an extra scratch for every 5 years over 18 you, the viewer may be. That's not to say the show is void of any charm. It has it's moments and even I smiled on a few occasions. The spin on teenage logic, and the blurred line between what's real and what's a joke is actually quite amusing... if you can figure out what's what. In truth, both these ladies have some talent in front of the camera. It would be cool to see if in 5 years they have stuck with it, or moved on to bigger and better things.
Generally, this next section of our write-up is reserved for the technical elements of a film or show. In this case however, there really isn't much to write about. Single shot one-offs are what "The Ashley & Alexis Show" consists of episode for episode. That, is the majority of the problem. So here, in this section I will post some suggestions to bring the show up a notch or ten. Any talk-ish style show ends up relying heavily on production. So why not add some? At the very least, the ladies should switch up the camera view now and then. Aside from the standard wide shot the show currently consists of, add some close-ups of each individual girl talking during the segments. Can't move the camera? No problem! Just go sit closer and in front of it. Keep the "Left/Right" rule in mind. One of you always on the left, the other on the right. Even during close-ups. That alone will enhance visual interest by 100%. Here's some more ideas. Do an interview segment on a different location. Add a comedic "Sketch" of sorts to each episode. Maybe, add a graphical segment explaining the current "Slang" for us older folks to check out... to help understand the modern lingo. Bottom line? Have some fun with the show! You have the talent to be the hosts, now add some variety. "E" is referenced through-out the episodes, so why not follow their lead and see how they segment the show? The end result, even with the smallest change will be worlds of difference. "The Ashley & Alexis" show oozes potential. There is so much more just under the surface that is waiting to be explored. The hosts, although very charismatic need more variety to make things work on a larger scale. Simply put? Add some variety and you'll skyrocket to the next level. As it sits right now, we have an amusing video blog. Is that term even still used? The potential however, to use a cliche... is unlimited. -JT Other Reviews That May Interest You
