Aliens Stole My Boyfriend will be premiering in the second season of the web series "Horror Hotel". I can't say much for the other episodes of the series thus far, but this one is a gas. Speaking honestly, I'm just going to have to check out some of season 1 because this episode has made a believer out of me. If you like weird stories a-la Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits then this may be your ticket to ride! This particular episode features all the staples of an awesome strange tale. Weird, campy and never seems to take itself seriously. In a good way of course. Aliens Stole My Boyfriend is a fun ride through a ridiculous situation. If any of the character names such as Roger Dodger, Aeliana or Minoria sound even remotely entertaining you may just have to bookmark the show page (on the right) and wait for this episode to be released because damn... this was good.
On the technical front there really isn't much not to like. The lensing was done in the style of the genre as were the costumes... and even the cheesy (but cool looking) spaceship! The video editing itself comes across as top notch and the audio was clear and true. Special note should be made of the cool sound track utilized here. Very fitting and completely vibe generating. The episode's cast themselves do an amazingly funny job as the characters in this crazy story. Ranging from extreme B-Movie camp-ness to somewhat serious at certain times, it's just done so well! I should probably add that I use the word serious very cautiously, considering the premise behind the episode. Simply put... The cast never seems or feels out of place, they look like they were just having straight up fun while shooting this episode! It's translated well to screen. This was a really well done piece of the larger puzzle that is "Horror Hotel". This single episode speaks volumes to the quality of the series itself. I truly enjoyed what I watched and as I wrote above, will be returning to have a look at the overall series. As a stand alone episode, Aliens Stole My Boyfriend was a fun ride into the world of ridiculous. A ride I would repeat and recommend to anyone. Give the episode 5 minutes and you'll be hooked straight through till the end of the cycle... or was that the beginning... -JT Other Reviews That May Interest You
