Credit where credit is due is what I always say. When it comes to "Time To Kill", sending out a few compliments is pretty damn easy. Director Justin Rettke presents a short film that is not only funny, but a pleasure to look at as well. I can honestly write that I will never look at the classic "Hit-man in waiting" scenario quite the same again! Full of humorous moments and a feeling that it's much more than just another independent short film, "Time To Kill" will easily stay your addiction for a few quick and easy laughs. When it comes to indie productions, as much as I always brag how far they've come, it's still generally hit-and-miss. "Time To Kill" is one of the hits. The story, although not completely unique, is timed and executed in a near flawless way. The gags come through loud and clear! Even the visual jokes cut through what could have become a tough production. Excellent shot compositions compliment some good audio and a slick, but not over done editing style making "Time To Kill" feel much larger than a simple indie production. Christopher T. Wood, as our hit-man in waiting pulls off an excellent performance using very little spoken dialog. I write "spoken dialog" simply because although not a lot of words come out of his mouth, his expressions and gestures are priceless. What Christopher doesn't say with words he easily conveys in other ways. I should also add that I loved the "Friends" conversation bits. Solid "LOLs" all the way! "Time To Kill" ends up being a fun ten minutes that may not be Earth-shattering in any way... but doesn't claim to be. It's simply a nicely done, funny film! This character could easily be made star of a feature film, and a good one at that! "Time To Kill" is also free to view at the moment, so you really have no excuse not to sneak in a laugh or two. One of my favorite scenes is close to the end of the film. Camera reveals the target coming home, then swings back to reveal our Hit-man in waiting. May not sound all that funny when I write it, but on-screen.... well... find out for yourself. -JT
